Future Energy Skills (FES) acts as a conduit for industry between Government agencies and other key training stakeholders.

FES identifies the needs of industry, informs and influences policy developers and funding bodies, and ensures that industry is well informed of the benefits of participation in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system.

Industry Engagement for Energy Sector Workforce Skills and Development

FES serves as a vital conduit between industry, government agencies, and key training stakeholders. By identifying industry needs, influencing policy, and promoting the benefits of participation in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, FES ensures that the energy sector is well-equipped for future challenges.

Through active industry engagement, FES has built a reputation as a trusted authority in workforce development, driving initiatives that support the growth and sustainability of the energy sector.

Key Industry Engagement Initiatives

Funded by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry, and Regions (DJSIR), FES provides Executive Officer services to the IAG for the energy sector, under the Victorian Skills Authority (VSA). The IAG offers critical industry insights and feedback on workforce skill development needs, supporting the Victorian Government’s strategic planning. Comprising industry bodies like ETU, NECA, Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), and the Clean Energy Council (CEC), the IAG identifies challenges and solutions to inform training course development.

As part of the broader Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) initiative, PSO gives industry a stronger voice to influence VET outcomes. FES actively participates in PSO’s Strategic Industry Advisory Body (SIAB), which connects industry needs with future workforce planning. This tripartite collaboration between employers, unions, and government bodies addresses critical skills challenges and enhances workforce development strategies.
