Future Energy Skills has been working for the Office of Victorian Skills Commissioner to develop training and learning resources for 22515VIC Course in Working Safely in the Solar Industry (WSIS).
The course addresses work, health and safety, knowledge and skill requirements and is contextualised for the solar industry. It provides the skill set required by installers to work safely whilst installing solar panels, hot water systems and associated equipment. The course aims to ensure workers understand required industry health and safety standards and the implications of safety hazards that may arise while working on roofs in the workplace.

A Project Steering Committee was established to advise on the industry need and development of the course and to confirm its alignment to industry current and future needs. To be awarded the 22515VIC Course in Working Safely in the Solar Industry qualification participants must successfully complete all core units.
The Course in Working Safely in the Solar Industry consists of five core units of competency:
VU22744 – Work safely in the solar industry
CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
CPCCOHS2001A Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
CPCCCM2010B – Work safely at heights
HLTAID003 – Provide first aid
