For licence renewals from 1 July 2028, Energy Safe Victoria is requiring all registered electricians to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Skills Development.
FES is an Energy Safe approved non-accredited CPD Skills Development provider, developing a range of courses that will launch over the coming year to help licenced electricians access relevant, industry-focused learning that supports compliance and capability.
To renew an electrician’s licence, a total of 8 hours of CPD Skills Development training must be completed at any time in the 5 years leading up to licence renewal.
CPD Skills Development is training that will develop and expand on knowledge and skills in areas relevant to the electrical trade. It is being introduced as a mandatory licence requirement to help ensure licenced electrical workers stay current with changes across the industry and to support ongoing learning.
- You will need to have completed Skills Maintenance training.
- You will need to have completed both Skills Maintenance and Skills Development training.

This year, FES will launch a new range CPD Skills Development courses designed to support licenced electrical works with practical, relevant learning.
These courses will be delivered by experienced trainers with strong industry knowledge and real-world insight. As an ESV approved non-accredited training provider, FES has the opportunity to deliver Skills Development training in flexible formats including full-day workshops and shorter 1–2 hour sessions.
