The Victorian State Government will be conducting their expo “The Trades Fit” again this year due to popular demand. The expo is designed to expose young women and non-binary students in years 9-12 to career prospects in traditionally male dominated trades. Through interactive hands-on experiences, technology displays, information sessions, and panel discussions, students are offered the chance to discover and explore, in a comfortable space, the possibilities that are available in pursuing a career in these fields.
Industries that attended last year’s expo included building and construction, electrical engineering, plumbing, automotive, marine, aviation, mining, agriculture and horticulture. Organisers are anticipating a similar line up for the 2023 edition.
“The Trades Fit” expo takes place Wednesday 10th May and Thursday 11th May at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Convention Place, South Wharf. There is no charge to enter the expo, and schools and community organisations are encouraged to attend.
