Continuing Professional Development Project

Strengthening the Electrical Industry Workforce Development

Overview:

In today’s rapidly evolving technical and regulatory environment, ongoing skill enhancement is essential for electrical professionals. Recent legislation mandates that licensed electrical professionals complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training, ensuring their knowledge and skills remain current. This non-accredited refresher training is a requirement before licence renewal, reinforcing industry standards and workforce competence.

Future Energy Skills (FES), in collaboration with Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), developed comprehensive, blended-learning CPD courses tailored to various electrical licence types. These instructor-led courses emphasize peer-to-peer learning, making them engaging, accessible, and practical.

Key components include:

  • Interactive Digital Resources: Incorporating animated and live-action videos.
  • Hands-On Practical Activities: Bridging theory with real-world application.
  • Learning Management System (LMS): Hosting all course materials and synchronizing with ESV Connect for streamlined, overnight reporting of course completions, simplifying the licence renewal process.

Leveraging extensive experience in electrical industry workforce development, FES oversees a biannual review and continuous improvement of course resources. Additional responsibilities include LMS hosting and implementing a train-the-trainer program to ensure educators deliver high-quality training consistently.
