Never Give Up!

The Protect Apprenticeship Endeavour Award recognises the achievement of an electrical apprentice who overcame additional challenges, barriers or set-backs whilst dedicating themselves to completing their apprenticeship and achieving their goal to become a Victorian licensed A-Grade electrician.

Recipients of the Protect Apprenticeship Endeavour Award receive $2,500 for upskilling or professional development within the electrotechnology field, providing them with the opportunity to pursue further career objectives.

The 2022 award recipient was a proud Tash Laragy. Tash has experienced challenges associated with learning all her life. This compounded over the years and her anxiety would be triggered in educational situations. During her assessment this was heightened by a health challenge within her family.

While there were times when Tash felt overwhelmed and didn’t think she would get through, her drive to succeed with the personal moto of “never give up”, ensured that she pushed on and overcame these obstacles. Completing all requirements to become an A Grade Electrician, Tash is proud of her achievement and is now a confident young woman ready to take on the world.

Tash is currently working in the mining industry, identifying a career opportunity in this field and wants to use the award to undertake high voltage training and obtain her “H” ticket. Again, well done Tash, we look forward to watching you flourish in all aspects of your life journey.

Applications for this award close 31st October each year. More information regarding this award and others will be available in coming editions.
