The Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking feedback from employers in the energy sector. This feedback is aimed at gaining an understanding of current and future workforce and skills issues in order to ensure Australia is able to achieve its desired renewable targets. Information gathered will also be used to forecast how jobs within the energy sector are changing.
This research will provide insight to all levels of government and aid with policy development, particularly in the areas of skills development and related training opportunities. It will also assist in developing new government initiatives around transition pathways for fossil fuel workers, as well as facilitating a picture of the diversity within the sector to aid equality initiatives.
