Executive Assistant / Finance Officer- Samantha Spice

A few lines about yourself.

I emigrated to Australia from the UK with my family when I was 14 years old. I finished year 12 and went to Deakin University. My first job when I left University, was with an organisation called EEITB as a research officer. After a couple of years I left to travel around Europe & Africa with my backpack in tow and eventually ended up in London working in the hotel industry. I returned to Australia in 2000, started a family and in 2007 joined EPIC ITB (formerly EEITB) which has since become FES (Future Energy Skills). I have been working at FES for the last 13 years in a number of roles.

What does your job entail?

My current role is Executive Assistant / Finance Officer. I provide support to our Executive Officer and the Board Directors of FES, as well as overseeing the financial transactions of FES which include payroll, monitoring transactions and preparing financial reports

What is a typical day like?

A typical day is busy and can involve anything from preparing budget reports to data entry.

Favourite memory from work?

My favourite memories from work are the work colleagues I have worked with both in the past and present

What’s a common question you get from stakeholders?

“Can you send me an invoice” is probably the most common question I’m asked.

What do you like most about your job?

I like that my role involves interacting with employees on all different levels of the organisation and across all areas of the business. I enjoy change and seeing the business develop. The opportunity to work flexible hours is great too.
