Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Launched

CPD is here and the FES Project Management Office (PMO) is proud to be involved in this project. A big shout out to Lizzie Carmichael who worked with Energy Safe Victoria, industry, subject matter experts and a team behind the scenes to create relevant resources for individual license classes and endorsements.

This training was developed over 12 months and was piloted at the Centre for U and NECA through the delivery of six courses. This ensures that the training best supports electrical workers to stay up to date with the technically complex, hazardous, heavily regulated and ever-changing nature of the industry. Following this, FES undertook a range of ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions to prepare 45 trainers to be able to deliver these courses.

Under this program, most licensed electrical workers are now required to attend CPD skills maintenance as a condition of their license renewal. Each CPD training session comprises both practical and theoretical components. Whilst there are no assessments linked to this training, participants will have the opportunity to work with peers to strengthen their skills and knowledge.  CPD will be delivered by ESV approved training providers in both metropolitan and regional areas.

Launched on Wednesday 10th August 2022 by the Hon Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Minister for Energy, Minister for Environment and Climate Action, and Minister for Solar Homes, speakers included Leanne Hughson, CEO Energy Safe Victoria, and Troy Gray, State Secretary of ETU Victoria.

Ms Ambrosio said, “Thanks to this course, Victoria’s electrical workers will continue to have the skills to help deliver our nation-leading renewable energy targets while continuing to keep the community safe.”
